Henry McPherson

10.00pm FLUID STUDIO
Henry McPherson (pianist), Inkeri Kallio (mezzo soprano) & Adam Hall (cellist) perform ‘Savage Parade’, specially devised for Fluid Festival

Henry is a composer/performer based in Glasgow.

He is fascinated by the intersection between the visual and the musical, the blurring of media, and creating space for marginalised voices to speak. His current work critiques the structures and conventions of the tradition of classical music, through the lens of queer theory. He has a long-standing collaboration with vocalist Inkeri Kallio, with whom he has collaborated on several projects examining the role of gender-expression in the concert hall.

He is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s composition department, and has had works premiered by performers such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, violist Garth Knox, the Glasgow New Music Expedition, the Red Note Ensemble, and Germany's Ensemble Modern.
